tuesday 12th june, 12 noon the hermit inn members past and present, guests and web behaved grandchildren are most welcome, for an afternoon of gourmet eating and scintillating conversation. 2018 meets the weekend meets list and mid week lunch meets for 2018 is now available to download click here wednesday night climbing meets following the huge success of the ymc's indoor climbing sessions we held an introduction to rock climbing meet in april 2018 at almscliff crag. this saw approximately 20 potential members attend and experience for their first time what it was like to get hands on the rock. this was only possible with the support of current club members and also the club having the required kit available to do this type of event. in light of this success we will again be holding our regular wednesday evening outdoor meets and below is a list of the dates and venues we will be visiting. the kit owned by the club is available for all club members to use and should you require any of it please do not hesitate to contact me. as with all our meets there will be club members present to offer any advice or tips so don't worry if you've not climbed before we will be more than willing to get you started. should we be beaten by the great british weather we will head indoors to leeds wall wednesday 2nd may at 18.00 hours - the roaches, staffordshire friday 29th june 2018 - saturday 30th june 2018 (2 nights) homestead farm, upper hulme, leek. st13 8ty outdoor leisure map ol24 'the peak district' - white peak approx gr sk 006 612 matt crawford is coordinating the weekend climbing meet at the roaches in staffordshire and invites anyone interested to make contact with him as soon as possible. the meet would suit intermediate level climbers and above and any novice climbers that feel competent to second traditional routes.camping at homestead farm camp site for the nights of friday 29 th june & saturday 30 th june 2018 and hopefully getting two full days of climbing in on the saturday & sunday. all the climbing is to be lead climbing / seconding routes from the climbers own guidebooks. everyone will need their own gear although some gear is available to be borrowed from ymc (harnesses ropes etc.), please get in touch about your experience/ability if you are interested . if any ymc members would like to join us to camp and climb and meet fellow climbers at the roaches please contact matt crawford anyone wanting to just have a day’s climbing on saturday or sunday please get in touch with matt to make arrangements. climbing partners will be available if anyone comes on their own. camping: the campsite itself is pretty basic. it's just a field beneath hen cloud with a toilet block and tap in the farm 200 meters down the road in upper hulme. the roaches tearoom is next to the field and the rock inn is less than 10 mins walk away, so basic though the campsite is, there's always a fry-up, pub food, and a pint readily available. the campsite is located right next to the roaches (in a field under hen cloud) and is run by homestead farm (even though it’s next to the roaches tea rooms and holiday cottages. it’s exceptionally cheap (£1) collected by mr reg day the farmer usually on quad bike in the morning, on this occasion we’ll pay as a group and phone ahead to make it easier for him. the site has no facilities, though there are toilets at the tea rooms or at the farm house 0.25 mile down the road. the tea rooms also offer an excellent cooked breakfast to start your day. also close is ye old rock inn in upper hulme which offers food food/sustenance is on a self catering basis, some people will be cooking on site some will be eating in the pub/cafe the choice is yours. the campsite is the field opposite the roaches tea rooms at paddock farm, roach road, upper hulme, leek, staffordshire, st13 8ty. phone 01538 300345 and it is run/owned by: mr reg day. homestead farm, upper hulme, leek, staffordshire, st13 8ty. 01538 300419 weekend meet -
